Daniel Blankenship (center) testifies before the Vermont House of Representatives during the joint hearing for Homelessness Awareness Day on 18 January 2024. His testimony provided the state congress with an update to programs to help end homelessness within the state of Vermont. (Picture taken from video footage of the hearing.)

Following the testimony, a vigil took place on the front lawn of the state house. Shauna Romanoff, Office Assistant at VSHA, wrote the following: Vigil Reflection.

Last Saturday morning, there was a fire at the Morse Block (a property owned by The Housing Foundation, Inc, VSHA’s non-profit affiliate).  Tyson, Kelly, and Jason were immediately on the scene.  Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the fire was contained to one unit (a stove fire). However, the sprinkler system was activated causing flooding to the first-story commercial spaces.  Tyson and his team have been working at the property most of this past week, making repairs and coordinating repairs so that the two businesses impacted most can reopen!
