Each participant in the Section 8 program has TWO employees to assist them.

The Field Representative performs inspections and is the liaison between the landlord and VSHA. As such, they are rarely in the office as their duties are performed in the areas that participants live. We have provided both their phone numbers and email addresses so that you can communicate with them. Please be patient as they cannot always respond immediately.

The Rental Assistance Specialist performs the annual recertifications. They also handle other paperwork, and you should notify them if you have a change in income or number of family members in your household. All of our staff have a heavy caseload. If you aren’t able to contact your RAS, they may already be busy with another client. We ask that you leave a detailed message and allow up to 48 hours from the time we receive the message to return calls.
